We are looking for compassionate, committed and conscientious individuals who will actively seek to mobilize its mission statement, which is "instilling hope by creating the right balance of resources and care to foster and equip healthy productive children & families."  FamilyCore is a private, non-profit, nationally accredited social service agency that has served the Tri-County area since 1900.  We are committed to helping individuals and families strengthen their lives through a variety of counseling, child welfare, family preservation and preventative education services.  We offer the best in quality, confidentiality, and expertise.

FamilyCore employs over 80 individuals in a tight-knit work community that work with schools, the court system and other social service agencies to connect counseling, intervention, preventative education and other support services with those who have a need. FamilyCore takes a holistic approach in its continuum of care, often providing boosts of support to multiple generations. The end goal is to maintain the integrity of family, however it may be defined.

This position provides office, community and home-based clinical services to families created through adoption or subsidized guardianship.  The families may be struggling with adoption related concerns and severe emotional and behavioral difficulties.  The Adoption Preservation Therapist/Supervisor will complete assessments and treatments plans and provide individual, family, and group therapy services and case management.  The Therapist/Supervisor will provide specialized treatment services in the areas of attachment, grief, loss and trauma. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Meets Agency Expectation for quality of direct service.
  • Provide a full range of case management, counseling, advocacy and related services.
  • Identify and utilize agency and community resources.
  • Assesses community conditions affecting clients to identify resource gaps and problems.
  • Recommends Financial Assistance for Clients.
  • Provide Group Services as indicated by program need.
  • Responsible for meeting all contractual requirements.
  • Complies with FamilyCore record-keeping expectations.
  • Works Effectively with diverse staff and service population.
  • Represents, interprets and presents FamilyCore programs and services to the community.
  • Perform comprehensive, in-depth assessments for a variety of program services. Performs Intake.
  • Maintains a working relationship with child, parents, teachers, therapist and community providers to assist in collaborative efforts to preserve the permanency of each child.
  • Documentation of meetings contacts and case progress by completing paperwork, progress notes, incident reports and writing individual service planning.
  • Respects the dignity and worth of individuals.
  • Working knowledge of de-escalation techniques and methods.
  • Maintain confidentiality per agency standard and NASW Code of Ethics
  • Identify and understand the strengths, abilities and competencies of children and families.
  • Participate in Program development.
  • Participate in clinical supervision with immediate clinical supervisor.
  • Participate in all FamilyCore assigned meetings and trainings.
  • Maintains regular communication with clients through phone calls, emails, home visits
  • Travel within 17 county area using personal vehicle to provide services. Provide transportation to client appointments if needed.
  • Track All Outcomes and Outputs based on goals established in the Program Plan and report as prescribed by DCFS.
  • Adheres of Adoption Preservation Contract.
  • Adhere to standards adopted through Council on Accreditation.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with all internal and external clients.
  • Ensure safety protocols and policies are practiced at all times.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and cultural competency.
  • Work with Resource Development staff to market services to target population.
  • Joins or develops groups and coalitions to address community needs.
  • May serve on regional or agency wide committees.
  • Promote and demonstrate commitment to FamilyCore's mission, vision and values.
  • *Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

                Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree required from an accredited school (Social Work, Counseling, or Related Field).
  • 1-3 years' experience required.
  • LSCSW or LCPC Preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills with knowledge in:
    • family systems
    • child and adolescent mental health
    • common adoption issues
    • child welfare
    • trauma (attachment, grief, and loss)
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Evening hours are required. 

 Competency:

  • Clinical Experience to assess and support client assessments as needed.
  • Ability to plan, budget, and organize in a management capacity in concert with the Program Director.
  • Collaborates and contributes to team and FamilyCore quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Oversee the development and the maintenance of procedures and distribution of quality documentation that complies with the requirements of accreditation, licensing and contracts. 
  • Promote and demonstrate commitment to FamilyCore's mission, vision and values.
  • Strong skills in the areas of fiscal, personnel and administrative management.
  • Highly responsive to client and staff needs with respect to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.
  • Utilize time tracking software and all other software required to fulfill duties.
  • Safe, reliable personal vehicle, to be used for FamilyCore business, including transporting clients.
  • Ability to operate a 7 and 15 passenger van.
  • Obtain parental permissions and develop effective working relationships with them.
    • Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
    • Must complete child passenger safety training.
    • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to analyze, process, organize and maintain data and confidential information.
    • Ability to establish and maintain a client focus.
    • Successfully complete FamilyCore training as required.
    • Must possess valid Illinois Driver's License in good standing and proof of valid vehicle insurance.
    • Must pass required background check.
    • Ability to be sensitive and understanding of cultural and lifestyle differences of all people regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age or background.
    • Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Physical:

  • Regular sitting, walking, standing, grasping, stooping or crawling, reaching, and reaching overhead.
  • Regular lifting, pulling and pushing up to 25 lbs. Occasional lifting, pulling, pushing up to 50 lbs. and other physical activities related to an office environment.

 

Work Environment:

  • Work occurs in and out of an office environment. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • May be subject to noise, distraction, and interruptions. May be subject to difficult client interactions that involve behavioral and emotional challenges.
