Counseling Director

FamilyCore employs over 90 individuals in a dedicated work community that work with schools, the court system and other social service agencies to connect counseling, intervention, preventative education, and other support services with those who have a need. FamilyCore takes a holistic approach in its continuum of care, often providing boosts of support to multiple generations. The end goal is to maintain the integrity of family; however, it may be defined.

This position is responsible for program execution, supervision, and expansion of clinical and adoption services for the tri-county area. Oversees foster care counseling programs, family counseling, intake and referral, and other related clinical programs. Knowledge of telehealth, 3rd party billing (insurance, EAP and Medicaid) and trained in Trauma Informed Care and ability to interface with Psychiatric resources.  Promotes the culture and competencies of Leaders Grow Leaders; Leaders Get Measurable Results and Leaders Shape FamilyCore Culture.

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Ensure clients receive high-quality services and that the treatment environment operates in accordance with best practices and in full compliance with Council on Accreditation standards.
  • Ensure Counseling Department operates in a fiscally responsible manner and manages and responds to all contract requirements.
  • Ensure promotion of FamilyCore services through participation in local funding sources, which include but are not limited to: United Way, School Districts, Probation and general relationships with Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of procedures and distribution of quality documentation that complies with the requirements of accreditation, licensing, and contracts.
  • Identify and develop community resources in support of FamilyCore's program expansion.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the team and FamilyCore quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Provide for the oversight interviewing of new hires, appropriate supervision, evaluation, motivation, training, informed and managed in a way that guarantees an effective provision of services at all locations.
  • Ensure that FamilyCore management is kept informed on a timely basis of critical issues, trends and changing service needs.
  • Has a commitment to the mission of FamilyCore as an integral function of the communities.
  • Has a passion for supporting programs through both providing for as well as implementing new services.
  • Has a commitment to the importance of children being cared for and treated through a variety of foster care settings and in-home services.
  • Adhere to standards adopted through Council on Accreditation.
  • Ability to organize and maintain data and confidential information.
    • Develop and maintain working relationships with all internal and external clients.
    • Working knowledge of de-escalation techniques and methods.
    • Effectively listen to and clearly communicate with a wide variety of cultures, organizations, and positions.
    • Ensure safety protocols and policies are practiced at all times.
    • Assume responsibility for professional development and cultural competency.
    • *Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

            Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in social work required.
  • 5-7 years' experience required.
  • LCSW or LCPC required, LCSW preferred.
  • Supervisory experience required.

Competency:

  • Working knowledge of clinical programs and services.
  • Ability to plan, budget, and organize in a management capacity.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the team and FamilyCore quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of procedures and distribution of quality documentation that complies with the requirements of accreditation, licensing, and contracts. 
  • Strong skill in the areas of fiscal, personnel, and administrative management.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
    • Promote and demonstrate commitment to FamilyCore's mission, vision, and values.
    • Highly responsive to client and staff needs with respect to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.
    • Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
    • Working knowledge of Child Welfare and Foster Care.
    • Ability to establish and maintain a client focus.
    • Utilize time tracking software and all other software required to fulfill duties.
    • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
    • Must complete child passenger safety training.
    • Safe, reliable personal vehicle, to be used for FamilyCore business, including transporting clients.
    • Must possess valid Illinois Driver's License in good standing and proof of valid vehicle insurance
    • Must pass required background check.
    • Ability to be sensitive and understanding of cultural and lifestyle differences of all people regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age, or background.
    • Successfully complete FamilyCore training as required.

Physical:

  • Regular sitting, walking, standing, grasping, fingering, and reaching.
  • Occasional stooping, reaching overhead, and lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 10 lbs.
  • Operate general office equipment, including multi-line phone, fax machine, printer, copier, and personal computer, with or without dual monitors.

 

Work Environment:

 

  • Work occurs in and out of an office environment. Occasionally exposed to loud noise and outdoor 

        weather conditions.

  • May be subject to noise, distraction, and interruptions. May be subject to difficult client interactions that involve behavioral and/or emotional challenges.
