Position Summary: The Human Resources Generalist will assist the Chief Executive Officer and Human Resources Director to maintain and enhance FamilyCore's human resources functions, following established office procedure and protocol, and other such duties as may be necessary and promote the mission of Family Core. The Human Resources Generalist role is both a strategic and hands-on role that will provide full cycle Human Resources support to staff. The role is critical in executing people initiatives, providing superior internal employee support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.


Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Coordinate onboarding of employees and process hiring paperwork and background checks.
  • Schedule and conduct new employee orientations.
  • Administer employee benefit plans.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, or promotions.
  • Address employee relations issues, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Maintain and update human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
  • Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Provide management with information or training related to FamilyCore's policies and procedures, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
  • Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
  • Update FamilyCore's policies and procedures on personnel matters to reflect revisions made by the CEO.
  • Standardize and update HR forms and checklists.
  • Draft new and update existing job descriptions to reflect accurate and current information.
  • Support compliance related projects and Regulatory / Board Reporting.
  • Perform organizational, and programmatic tasks as needed.
  • Maintain confidential personnel records for the facility by filing, organizing, and purging all HR files on schedule - adhering to all compliance & regulations of record retention.
  • Assist with data entry and record management functions as needed to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Implement and support projects relating to all areas of HR.
  • Assist with Employee Wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure safety protocols and policies are practiced at all times.
  • Assist with HR Metrics tracking.
  • Adhere to standards adopted through Council on Accreditation.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all communications in accordance with Council on Accreditation and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with all internal and external clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar course of study. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 4 years experience in Human Resources required.
  • An appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered.

Competency:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local law and regulations, contractual obligations as pertains to personnel management.
  • Ability to organize and maintain data and confidential information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an internal staff focus.
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with staff.
  • Must pass required background check with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
  • Must pass background checks with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Health Care Worker Registry, and Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services OIG Provider Sanctions.
  • Successfully complete FamilyCore training as required.
  • Utilize time tracking software and all other software required to fulfill duties.
  • Ability to be sensitive and understanding of cultural and lifestyle differences of all people regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age, or background.
  • Must possess valid Illinois Driver's in good standing, and proof of valid vehicle insurance.

Physical:

  • Frequent standing, grasping, fingering, and lifting, pulling and pushing up to 10 lbs.
  • Regular sitting, walking, reaching, and reaching overheard.
  • Occasional stooping and other physical activities related to an office environment.
  • Operate general office equipment, including multi-line phone, fax machine, printer, copier, scanner, laminator, and personal computer, with or without dual screens.
  • Perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment:

  • Work occurs primarily in an office environment. Occasionally exposed to loud noise and outdoor weather conditions.
  • May be subject to distraction and interruptions. May be subject to difficult client interactions that involve behavioral and/or emotional challenges.
